Vancouver is expecting snow and with changing weather conditions come changing road conditions.

“With the potential for winter weather, including possible snow or freezing conditions for the Lower Mainland, drivers are reminded to plan ahead and take appropriate precautions for travel in winter weather,” said the Ministry of Transportation and Transit in a statement.

B.C.’s transportation ministry says they are prepared for the winter weather and that the maintenance contractor “has been out brining all highways in advance of the current winter event and all snowplows and crews are in place to react to any snowfall accumulations.”

On Monday, Environment and Climate Change Canada released a special weather alert saying that Metro Vancouver could see up to 10 centimeters of snow today.

Temperatures in Vancouver are expected to stay below freezing overnight until Thursday, with flurries expected during this time.

When driving in inclement conditions, ICBC suggests using winter tires and slowing down on the roads.

They suggest to always check drivebc.ca before heading out to stay updated on the most current travel information.
