A winter storm has prompted school bus cancellations across southern Ontario for Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Icy and slippery conditions due to a mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain are expected on Wednesday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Multiple hours of freezing rain are possible, predominantly for areas west of the city of Toronto. Ice build-up of a few millimetres is possible, Environment Canada said in a winter storm warning.

Many schools have cancelled buses due to the storm. The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has also closed all schools.

Below is a breakdown of cancellations by school board:

Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board

Out of an abundance of caution, all buses in all zones (Zones 1, 2 and 3) are cancelled due to weather conditions for both boards. Schools will remain open.

Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board

All school buses are cancelled today for both boards. Schools will remain open.

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board

Due to inclement weather, transportation is cancelled and all HWDSB schools, learning and administrative buildings are closed on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026.

All student transportation is also cancelled for HWCDSB. However, HWCDSB schools, adult education centres, school-based childcare centres and Community Use of Schools are open today,

Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board

Due to inclement weather, all student transportation is cancelled. Schools, adult education centres, school-based childcare and Community Use of Schools are open.

Durham Region School Board and Durham Catholic District School Board

Durham Student Transportation Services have cancelled buses in all zones, 1 (Brock), 2 (Uxbridge), 3 (Scugog) and 4 (Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa Area), due to the forecasted poor weather and impacted road conditions.

Schools are open for both boards.

York Region District School Board

Due to inclement weather, transportation services for all YRDSB schools are cancelled today, February 18, 2026. Schools remain open to students.
