Several Vancouver-area concerts were announced Tuesday by Live Nation Entertainment including a trio of small-venue shows by high-energy Canadian band Arkells and a “Constellation” of acts at the PNE’s new Freedom Mobile Arch.

To celebrate a new Between Us album this spring, Arkells are doing a three-night stand in Vancouver including May 7 at The Penthouse strip club, May 8 at Hollywood Theatre in Kitsilano and May 9 at the legendary Commodore Ballroom, in addition to club shows in Edmonton and Calgary.

Arkells frontman Max Kerman says playing multiple nights in each city “lets us do something that feels deeply important right now: introduce new music, stretch out across our entire catalogue, and create a different experience each night. And yes — every sing-along you’ve been waiting for. With three nights, everybody gets cake — and we’re eating all of it.”

Ticket sales start Friday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m., with fan pre-sales Feb. 18. Sign up for pre-sale access at arkellsmusic.com.

In other concert news, the PNE’s new Freedom Mobile Arch will be a stage for Thee Sacred Souls, LA LOM and The Womack Sisters on Aug. 9. The bands will bring “heart-melting harmonies, genre-blurring grooves and timeless soul on their Constellation Tour across North America,” Live Nation announced.

At UBC, Young the Giant is set to perform at at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on July 24 on a Victory Garden tour date, with Cold War Kids and KennyHoopla opening.

In Coquitlam, veteran American troubadour Steve Earle will perform at Great Canadian Casino on July 27, with another B.C. concert date July 18 at Kelowna Community Theatre.
