Multiple firearms offences were laid against a man in connection with an incident in Ottawa’s east end.
Police said on Feb. 16, around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to calls about a person who possibly had guns in a vehicle near a residential address. Police said when they arrived, they found the man in relation to the calls and arrested him.
They searched the vehicle and found three handguns and took them. The man, police say, was bound by the courts from ever possessing firearms.
Garip Hammoe, 41, is facing charges including:
Failing to follow a court order and breaching release conditions
Careless handling and storage of firearms (three counts)
Carrying concealed firearms (three counts)
Possessing restricted or prohibited firearms without the required licence and registration (three counts)
Possessing firearms without a valid licence (three counts)
Being in a vehicle while knowingly in possession of firearms (three counts)
