The small village of Stenen annual bonspiel attracted 21 curling teams from across the province to its natural ice surface.

STENEN — The Stenen annual bonspiel was held from Jan. 25 to Feb. 1, with 21 teams participating.


First-event winner was the Ken Newell rink with members Evan Rostotski, Keegan Bilanchuk and Rubieann Kluke.


The second-event winner was the Terry Dennis rink with members Cal Statchuk, Lynda Statchuk and Lori Dennis.


The third event-winning team was the Mervin Tomski rink with Peter Wiwchar, Elaine Park and David Bodnarek (game substitute for Ron Steranko).


Other rinks were skipped by Jess Olson, Kirby Mirva, Cory Babiuk, Derek Ryczak, Art Boyd, Patrick Kardynal, Dale Lisoway, Shawn Krotenko, Trent Prekaski, Don Kurulak, Dwayne Karcha, Merv Secundiak, Jody Bashforth, Scott Schweigert, Scott Pankewich, Sturgis Tire, Rick Pawliw and Sheldon Luciw.


“With the help of all our dedicated volunteers at the rink and at our banquet, we enjoyed another very successful year. Thank you to all those who donated their time and food for the rink and banquet. Also, thanks to all the businesses and individuals who donated money and items for our door prizes and auction,” stated Elenore Prekaski, secretary.
