It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rafael Angel Cascante Marin, who left us far too soon at the age of 44.
Rafael was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ana Patricia, and a proud and loving father to Skyler, Ryan, Jesse, Xavier, and Briadna. His family was his world, and everything he did was rooted in providing, protecting, and building a better life for them.
Rafael was funny, hardworking, disciplined, and strong-willed. His stubbornness was matched only by his determination — once he set his mind to something, he gave it everything he had. Beneath that tough exterior was a deeply loving man whose loyalty and dedication to his family never wavered.
He carried a deep pride for his homeland of Costa Rica and was a passionate supporter of Deportivo Saprissa. No matter where life took him, Costa Rica remained in his heart. He loved fishing, working outdoors, and dedicating himself to landscaping — work he took great pride in. He also enjoyed collecting unique knives, appreciating their craftsmanship and detail.
One of Rafael’s greatest acts of love was stepping up and embracing children as his own when he didn’t have to. He showed that fatherhood is not defined by blood, but by commitment, sacrifice, and unconditional love. For that, his children will forever be grateful.
Rafael leaves behind a family who will carry his strength, humor, work ethic, and love forward every day. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made in 44 years will last generations.
