During the 2023 MLB Draft, the Texas Rangers selected Wyatt Langford with the fourth overall pick. He had made a name for himself at the University of Florida, where he was named a Golden Spikes Semifinalist and a first-team All-American.Â
It did not take long for him to make his way up through the minors. He would go on to make the Opening Day roster during the 2024 season and hasn’t looked back.
Langford is coming off a season where he played in 134 regular-season games, hitting .241/.344/.431 with a career-high 22 home runs and 62 runs batted in.Â

Rangers’ youngster projected to lead the team once again in 2026
Langford was able to lead the Rangers in WAR last season (4.1), which says a lot about someone who is teammates with Corey Seager and Jacob deGrom.Â
Now in his third year, he is expected to continue his success, especially on the offensive side of things. The crew over at MLB.com tags him as the one to lead Texas once again this season.Â
“By WAR, Langford was the Rangers’ top player in 2025, barely edging out Corey Seager’s 4.0-win season. The 24-year-old Langford is projected to lead the club in WAR yet again, no small feat on a team that features the likes of Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi. Langford’s game features a blend of good offense, strong baserunning and defensive chops that give him an enviable combination of a high floor and high upside.”
Not only is Langford good with the bat, but he is always a threat on the basepaths. He takes away opposing pitchers’ focus from attacking the batter when he’s on base.Â
On top of that, he is a great outfielder. His speed allows him to get to balls that some other outfielders cannot get to. All he needs to do is work on his arm strength, and his potential could be unlimited.
