A winning lottery ticket given as a Christmas gift will help a Brampton woman pay for school, a home and her wedding.
Taylor Scott is a fashion design student from Brampton who has played OLG lottery games off-and-on since she turned 18. The 30-year-old student got a Christmas gift of a lottery ticket from her mom, but didn’t scratch it right away.
“It had been sitting on my desk for a few days when I noticed it and got the feeling I should play it. I was working on a project at the time and thought, ‘I’ll scratch it later,’” she said while picking up her winnings at the OLG prize centre in Toronto.
But Scott says she “couldn’t shake the feeling,” and decided to play the Instant 25 Days to Win ticket right away. She saw she’d won, but didn’t realize how much until later.
It wasn’t until Scott and her mother checked the ticket on the OLG app that they discovered she’d won a top prize of $250,000.
“We were both in shock,” she said of her win.
The money will help pay for Scott’s education, save for a wedding fund, launch a fashion business, and put a down payment on a home.
“It feels amazing to have won big,” she said.
Instant 25 Days to Win was available for $10 a play, with a top prize of $250,000. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
The winning ticket was purchased at Brampton Civic Variety in the Brampton Civic Hospital.
