Two people are in custody following an incident that led a school to go into partial lockdown north of Toronto, police say.

The incident started around 2:45 p.m. in the area of Islington Avenue and Stegman’s Mill Road in Kleinburg west of Vaughan, York Regional Police say.

Police said they were in the area investigating a suspicious person, and a nearby school placed on a hold-and-secure order.

Three people were taken into custody, but police later said that there were only two suspects. Both have been taken into police custody, investigators say.

The hold-and-secure order was lifted around 3:45 p.m., police said in an update.

Police haven’t said whether any charges have been laid or are pending.
