Police have charged a Brampton man with kidnapping, assault and firearm charges following a home invasion last year.

The OPP says the armed break-in happened shortly before 5 a.m. on July 1 in the Hillside area of Huntsville, approximately 125 kilometres north of Barrie.

Police say “the investigation extended beyond the original location,” and officers closed Highway 11 in both directions Severn River Road and Coopers Falls Road, and between Canning Road and Graham Road.

Seven people had been arrested and charged in connection to the armed home invasion, and police said on Thursday that a 32-year-old suspect from Brampton has also been arrested.

The OPP says Median Jackson, 32, of Brampton, has been charged with multiple offences, including three counts of robbery using firearm, kidnapping while using firearm, two counts of forcible confinement and conspiracy to commit indictable offence.

The accused is still in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Feb. 5, police say.

Investigators believe additional suspects may be at large, and could be armed and dangerous.
