A person was found by emergency responders with life-threatening injuries in the downtown core on Thursday evening.

Police are not releasing many details because next of kin has not been told, however, they said they were called around Rideau Street and Colonel By Drive at 5:35 p.m.

There, the person was found and transported to hospital where they died of their injuries.

Officials took on person into custody in connection with the incident.

A press release notes that there is no risk to public safety, but that officers may remain while the investigation continues.
