A Brampton man arrested following an armed home invasion last year is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the recent police corruption probe.

Seven Toronto Police Service officers and one retired officer were among nearly 30 suspects charged in an investigation led by York Regional Police, which uncovered allegations of bribery, conspiracy to commit murder and drug trafficking, among other offences.

Two of the 27 suspects were arrested in Mississauga and are not police officers, but three Peel Regional Police officers have also been suspended pending further investigation.

One of the accused arrested in Mississauga is Median Jackson, a 32-year-old man from Brampton who was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and discharge firearm – recklessness.

But police now say Jackson was also allegedly part of an armed home invasion last year that has led to eight arrests.

The OPP says the armed break-in happened shortly before 5 a.m. on July 1 in the Hillside area of Huntsville, approximately 125 kilometres north of Barrie.

Police say a 32-year-old suspect from Brampton has been charged with multiple offences, including three counts of robbery using firearm, and kidnapping while using firearm, and an OPP spokesperson confirmed to INsauga.com that Jackson has been accused in both cases.

Jackson is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Feb. 5, the OPP says.

Ontario’s Inspector General of Policing is launching a province-wide probe in the wake of the York police investigation, with Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw welcoming the approach.

Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw welcomed the inspector general’s decision to take a provincewide approach, saying the issue is “something that everybody would want to see dealt with comprehensively.”
