Europa Super Circus to return to Cloverdale Fairgrounds in April for 8 Surrey shows

The circus is coming back to town.
Europa Super Circus will visit Cloverdale again this year, brining its Big Top to the Cloverdale Fairground April 16-19.
The Super Circus will be set up in the Elements Casino parking lot.
“Europa Super Circus features world class artists from all over the globe,” notes info on supercircus.com. “Witness high flying aerialists, dizzying roller skaters and comedic clowns all presented by Europe’s best circus artists promises to be a must see for everyone.”
Organizers are bringing in award-winning, world-class European circus artists, “Featuring international tight-wire acrobat, Geoffrey Berhault, José Armando Ponce Ramos on the Wheel of death, and the All-Star FMX Ultimate Circus riders.”
The eight-show run kicks off with one show on Thursday, April 16.
Desire Cardinali Chaves and Geoffrey Berhault are producing the Super Circus. A small bio noted the pair hail from generations of circus families.
Chaves is a contortionist, hand balancer, and aerialist from Portugal.
“She is the seventh generation of the Cardinali circus family of Portugal and the fifth generation from the Chaves family. She continues the family tradition all over the world and has performed in various shows such as Circo Victor Hugo Cardinali, Cirque Alexandre Bouglione, Cirque Alexis Gruss, Circus Carl Bush, Gerry Cottles Circus, Cirque Arlette Gruss and many more.”
Berhault is a second-generation circus performer from Paris.
“His specialty is the tightwire, where he combines dance, jumps, and flips on a 10mm cable. He studied at two circus schools in Paris and has performed globally, including on cruise ships in Asia, circus tours in France and Germany, and he even participated in a popular international talent competition show.”
Europa also features: Angelo Chaves, a fourth-generation clown known as the “Clown Prince of Portugal”; Erica Cardinali Chaves who specializes in aerial silks, hula hoops, and roller skating; Spain’s José Armando Ponce Ramos, who holds the Guinness World Record for most blindfolded turns in a “Wheel of Death”; and Kaden Davidson, a 19-year-old dirt bike sensation who has been “tearing up tracks since he was old enough to grip handlebars,” among others.
The Europa Super Circus opens its Canadian tour in Richmond with stops in Saanichton, Nanaimo, and Black Creek before hitting Cloverdale. After Surrey, the circus stops in both Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
Cloverdale shows run April 16 (Thursday): 7 p.m., April 17 (Friday): 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., April 18 (Saturday): 1:30, 4:30, and 7:30 p.m., and April 19 (Sunday): 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.
All shows held under the Big Top set up in the Elements Casino parking lot on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.
