Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a suspect charged with murder in a 2025 fatal stabbing in Ottawa.

On Friday, Ottawa police announced they’ve charged 19-year-old Zakarye Abdi-Jama of Ottawa with second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Raphael Atende.

Abdi-Jama is accused of stabbing Atende shortly after midnight on the 1700 block of Russell Road on Oct. 18, 2025. Atende’s death was Ottawa’s 15th homicide of that year.

Police said Friday they don’t know where Abdi-Jama is, nor do they have a recent or clear picture of him.

“Should one become available, the Ottawa Police Service will share it on our website and social media channels,” the police service said.
