The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) says a Mississauga man joined a hunting party near Huntsville in October 2024.

One of the members of the party killed a calf moose in the morning despite not having purchased a licence to kills calves.

To cover up the illegal activity, the MNR says the Mississauga man travelled to a legitimate licence issuer and bought his unclaimed calf tag after the fact.

The tag was invalid for a time after its purchase.

In February at the Ontario Court Of Justice, the man pleaded guilty to hunting a calf moose without a licence and was fined $1,500.
