A 70-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of another man outside Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa on Thursday.
First responders were called to Rideau Street near Colonel By Drive around 5:30 p.m., Ottawa police said.
Ottawa paramedics said a man was stabbed outside an entrance to the mall and was taken to hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries a short time later, police said.
On Friday, police said Yves Brisebois, 70, has been charged with 1st-degree murder.
Police have not identified the victim as they attempt to reach relatives.
This is the city’s fourth homicide of the year.
