The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have been busy at the outset of the CFL’s Free Agency Communication Window, agreeing to two-year deals with offensive lineman Jarell Broxton and National wide receiver Tommy Nield on Sunday, TSN’s Farhan Lalji reports.

Broxton, 32, was named a CFL All-Star at left tackle with the BC Lions last season. He has played each of his five CFL campaigns with the Lions.

His $500,000 deal over two years makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the CFL.

Considered the top player available on TSN’s free agent board, Broxton has allowed a league-best 2.7 per cent pressure rate over the past two seasons in BC, and he helped the Lions allow the fewest sacks (20) as a team in the CFL in 2025.

Broxton, a native of Olney, Md., played his collegiate career at Lackawanna College before transferring to Baylor University. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens ahead of the 2015 season, but did not dress for a game in the NFL.

Nield, 26, caught 42 passes for 535 yards and five touchdowns with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2025, his best season in the CFL to date.

The native of Guelph, Ont. spent his first four seasons in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts, and has 105 receptions for 1,311 yards and seven touchdowns over 54 career CFL games.
