You may have been wondering, will my local watering hole be open for Canada’s Olympic gold medal game on Sunday?

Well, the Province of B.C. gave those wondering a good news update on Friday afternoon.

Premier David Eby posted to social media on Friday evening with an update.

“Our province is so proud of our Canada men’s hockey team,” he wrote.

“Also happy to say you can celebrate at one of our local B.C. hospitality locations with a licensed beverage starting at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, where local governments allow.”

City News Vancouver reported on Friday afternoon that nine Vancouver bars had received approval to serve liquor starting at 5:00 a.m.

Bells and Whistles Pub – 3296 Fraser Street
Leopold’s Tavern – 1619 W Broadway
Shark Club – 180 W Georgia Street
Craft Beer Market Restaurant & Bar – 85 W 1st Avenue
The Pint Public House – 475 Abbott Street
Par-Tee Putt/Dublin Calling/Slate – 670 Smithe Street
Steamworks Brewing Co. Kitchen & Taphouse – 2275 Main Street
Roxy Burger – 910 Granville Street
Parq Casino – 39 Smithe Street

They also mentioned that four other pubs have received approval from the City of Vancouver and are just waiting on approval from the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch.

Sands Motor Hotel – 1755 Davie Street
Rogers Arena – 800 Griffiths Way
Kelly O’Bryans – 1774 W 7th Avenue
Joeys Grill & Lounge – 820 Burrard Street

Our Dished Vancouver team also reported on some other establishments that will be open, with others in the comments indicating they’d be open as well.

Heading outside of the Vancouver city limits, the mayor of Port Coquitlam announced on Saturday that all bars in his district would be open and ready to go, as long as they are in good standing.

The Province has announced licensed premises can open at 5:00am Sunday for the Gold Medal game, with municipal approval.

By order of the Mayor — approved. 🍺 🇨🇦

ALL licensed establishments in good standing can extend their liquor service hours to accommodate the game.

This is a step up from 2014, when bars in British Columbia were allowed to open, but they weren’t allowed to serve liquor.

Regardless, the gold medal gathering in 2026 seems like it will be hopping in the Lower Mainland.
