MMA Fighting has Ryan Garcia vs. Mario Barrios live round-by-round updates for one of the most anticipated boxing fights of the year at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Ryan Garcia (24-2, 20 knockouts) is 2-2 with one no-contest in his past five fights. He lost via unanimous decision to Rolando Romero in his last outing this past May in Times Square.

Mario Barrios (29-2-2, 18 knockouts) is 3-0-2 over his past five fights. He has recorded two straight draws to defend his WBC welterweight title, including against legend Manny Pacquiao in his last outing this past July.

Garcia is out first as the challenger, coming out in a white robe with magenta, flame trim. He moves calmly to the ring, accompanied by his father, who is rocking all white.

Barrios is in black shorts with green flaps and a green shoulder pads, led out by several Aztec dancers performing before he walks out. He looks very focused for this fight.

Michael Buffer gets to the announcements and this is a Ryan Garcia crowd all the way. Raucous applause for King Ryan, hearty boos for Barrios.

They meet in the middle for final instructions and touch gloves. Go time.

Garcia out right away to take the center. Barrios looks HUGE in there compared to Garcia. And Garcia doesn’t look small. But Garcia pumps some sharp right hands early that get Barrios’s attention

OHHHHHHH! Straight right hand to the temple sends Barrios to the canvas in the first 30 seconds!!!!!!!! Barrios up but Garcia right back on him! Garcia is locked in and looks real fast. Barrios has his feet under him and seems OK, but Garcia got out to a lightning fast start. And a big right hand lands behind the head getting a note from the referee. Garcia got his right hand going, which no one saw coming, as he digs one to the body.

Barrios putting his foot in the middle and trying to get Garcia moving, but his jab is not active and that’s his entire game. He might be shell-shocked, as Garcia lands another right hand over the top. He looks for a left before the bell but no luck.

Can Barrios get his jab going? Because Garcia loops a big right hand early. And then another. Then he swing a wild left that comes nowhere close. Barrios with the high guard, putting his foot into Garcia’s chest, but Ryan steps around and cracks him. Might have been back of the head though as the ref talks to him. Then a pair of body shots from Garcia. He is so fast compared to Barrios, who has the look of a man trying to find his way through a hail storm.

Barrios starts to pump the jab, Garcia lands an uppercut, and Barrios gets a left in after. Barrios now getting the pressure working, but Garcia sends a sharp left hook in that lands well. Barrios eats it, though. Garcia reaching a little bit at times, and Barrios just made him pay for it with his jab. But then Garcia lands a check hook. Barrios find some ground that round, but not much.

Garcia with a flurry of punches to start the third. Barrios looking confused in there, playing a lot of defense. Garcia is wheels up with his hands right now. But Barrios lands a sharp jab. Then he gets into the body some. Garcia working around the high guard for Barrios, who does land to the body. He’s shell defense is not ideal. It’s preventing big shots from Garcia, but it also allows him to tee off. Garcia with a pair of hooks. Barrios is out of sorts and eats a nasty combination. He looks like he’s having a bad time in there. Barrios tries to get back to the body but his offense is just not potent. Meanwhile, Garcia is moving him around with every punch.

Garcia out on fire again. At this point, the question is can Garcia do this for 12 rounds? It’s hard work to beat the tar out of someone, but Garcia is chopping away. Barrios needs something to get respect in there, but he cannot match Garcia’s speed and power. OH! Monster right hand right into Barrios’s head. He’s a stationary target in there with his guard and Garcia is chewing him up around it. Another pair of right hands from Garcia. He is tough, but simple, and that’s poison right now.

Garcia right after him to start and OH! Big right hook from Garcia wobbles Barrios! Barrios covering and moving, trying to get his head above water but eats another! Garcia is just clubbing that right hand in there now! Everyone knew to be worried about Garcia’s left hand, but the right has come alive tonight! And again he blunt force traumas Barrios back. Garcia’s right hand simply cannot miss, and then he lands a left hook. And another big left! Barrios is entirely on the defense now. His corner is telling ref these are shots to the back of the head, but the ref tells them he’s ducking into them like that, which is true. Garcia is keeping Barrios in space and hammering away. But credit to the champ, he’s tougher than a two-dollar steak. He’s hanging in there and marching forward. But Garcia keeps blasting away.

Garcia right back out and big body shot from Garcia! Barrios goes down, but it’s ruled a push, because Garcia did push him after. Barrios back up and lands a right hand, but Garcia with the combination. Barrios is blocking about half the shots to the head, but he’s still getting hammered in there. Barrios continues to move forward, trying to use the jab but Garcia is not there to be hit. This is maybe the best Garcia has ever looked. Nice body shot from Garcia, but Barrios lands one, then eats a clean left hook. Garcia on the prowl and lands a right hand before the bell.

This fight is written in stone at this point, the only question is will Garcia get Barrios out of there. He’s still weapons free and Barrios is eating them. They’re interviewing his coach, who is very clear about how much Garcia is kicking his fighter’s ass. Though, credit to Barrios, he’s doing better this round. Garcia might be taking the round off, he’s not pressing the issue.

Nevermind, but combination from Garcia. Barrios still has no real offense of his own to change the momentum of this fight. Oh, there’s a body shot from Barrios, perhaps his best punch of the night. But he’s a kite in a hurricane right now.

There’s not a judge alive who has given Barrios a round tonight, not even his own mom. So Barrios needs a finish and that seems unlikely. Especially as things remain the same in here. Garcia methodically punching all levels and Barrios just biting down and taking it. Garcia has lost a little zip on his punches at this point, but it doesn’t really matter. Barrios has nothing major of his own going. He’s just coming forward, getting hit, chipping shots in there. A clinch gets a little ugly with Garcia holding too long and Barrios punching but the referee give them both a stern talking to.
