DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Quad Cities Bicycle Club hosted a RAGBRAI for Rookies seminar at the Davenport Public Library on Saturday.
The free public event offered first-time RAGBRAI riders advice on safety, training and tips for completing the ride.
Tina Reyes, president of the Quad Cities Bicycle Club, said the seminar covered the history of RAGBRAI, daily mileage expectations, and what to pack.
“Some of the things they are learning is just a little bit of the history of RAGBRAI — you know it’s been around since 1973 — and then we step them into what they can expect on a given day, the mileage, also what to pack,” Reyes said. “Some of the point is we have a lot of experience to help a newer person throughout all the steps. I know personally, my first RAGBRAI was very overwhelming.”
The 53rd RAGBRAI is scheduled to run July 18–25, covering 391.4 miles and 16,027 feet of climb.
