P.K. Subban drew the ire of Canadian fans when we seemingly cheered on Team USA’s gold medal win, and his comments did not sit well with them at all.

Team USA ended a 40+ year drought when it came to winning gold at the Winter Olympics as they put Canada down 2-1 in OT to secure their first gold medal since 1980 — 46 years to the day in fact.

As it turns out, former Team Canada defenceman and retired NHL player P.K. Subban managed to make a lot of his countrymen dislike him instantly.

P.K. Subban’s comments post-Team Canada loss spark huge backlash

After Team USA scored to win the game, Subban posted a video on his X account of him celebrating the victory, seemingly mocking Canada’s loss and praising the US’ victory:

Subban’s X post was referring to Jack Hughes’ OT winner, but it was the fan reaction afterwards that’s the real discussion point. Several pointed tp the fact that Subban has played for Team Canada before, and his sudden shift to the other side is a shock:

Safe to say, Subban is not endearing himself to fans in Canada and one fan simply put it as blunt as they could (albeit with the anger of a thousand suns):

While anyone is free to cheer on who they would like, the fact that Subban did so with such boldness is what’s bothering fans. He’s a Canadian, and they would hope he would act as such — with grace; not arrogance.
