Young people will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the city through participation in the Brampton Youth Cabinet.
The call has gone out to residents aged 14 to 29 to join the cabinet that will serve in an advisory role on several issues, as well as provide new perspectives on matters facing the city.
“The Youth Cabinet gives young people opportunities to support youth-led projects and events while sharing youth voices and perspectives,” according to the city. “The initiative responds to a recent youth survey highlighting young residents’ desire for more opportunities to influence their community.”
Here are the eligibility requirements:
General membership is open to Brampton residents aged 14 to 29.
Annual term from September to June with regular and ad hoc meetings and events.
Commitment to regular attendance and active participation.
Executive members receive an honorarium and transit pass.
The Brampton Youth Cabinet will be organized into working groups focused on four key areas: events, outreach, communications and advisory. The Cabinet is made up of 25 executive members. Applicants may apply for positions aligned with their interests and skill sets.
“Young people have told us they want to be more involved in shaping Brampton’s future, and we are listening,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “The Brampton Youth Cabinet is more than a seat at the table. It empowers youth to lead, share perspectives and make an impact in shaping our city.”
The Brampton Youth Cabinet is part of the City of Brampton’s 2026-2030 Youth Engagement Strategy, a roadmap designed to empower Brampton’s youth and amplify their voices in civic life. Released in June 2025, the strategy will guide the city’s efforts over the next five years and strengthen connection, support and inspiration for youth across Brampton.
Residents can complete the online application or submit a paper application at City Hall.
