A National Hockey League insider has given a big update on Monday regarding the Vancouver Canucks’ plans for the trade deadline with less than two weeks to go.
The National Hockey League’s Olympic roster freeze is now over and things are about to get very busy on the trade front as there’s only 11 days remaining until the deadline, which is set for Friday, March 6th at 12 pm PT.
“According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that – in an effort to get younger – they are willing to listen to offers on ‘veteran players.'” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said in late November.

According to Drance, the Canucks are willing to listen to offers on their veteran players, but aren’t necessarily wanting to move on from a good chunk of them before the deadline.
In addition to that, Drance is reporting that the biggest trade chip the club has at the moment is Evander Kane, who is drawing interest from teams around the league, some of whom inquired with Patrik Allvin during the Olympic break and he added that the Canucks are still willing to retain upwards of 50 percent of his salary to get a deal done.
“Kane is drawing some interest, with several teams kicking the tires on acquiring him during the trade freeze. The Canucks are willing to do everything possible to facilitate a trade that would send Kane to a playoff team. They’re willing to retain 50 percent of his contract, and they expect to do so if he’s traded.” Drance said.
When it comes to a pair of pending unrestricted free agent centermen – Teddy Blueger and David Kampf – Thomas Drance says that they are generating interest around the league and that both players might net the Canucks a mid-round draft pick each.
With just 11 days separating us from the trade deadline, the Vancouver Canucks appear to be highly motivated to get some deals done and to add more draft picks, and hopefully prospects, to the organization in order to proceed with the next phase of their rebuild.
