Closures remain in effect along the Gardiner Expressway on Tuesday following a water main break that snarled rush hour traffic on Monday morning.

One westbound lane remains closed near Park Lawn Road and the ramp from Park Lawn to the westbound Gardiner is also closed.

According to a statement from the City of Toronto, the break was isolated on Monday and the flooding has stopped.

“A storage facility has been affected and the owner has been notified,” the statement read.

Contractors remain on site to manage traffic and assist in locating utilities while repairs continue.

“Toronto Police, Fire and Transportation Services were on site earlier to divert traffic while flooding impacted roadway lanes in the area. The Gardiner Expressway at Grand Avenue remains affected as crews continue to assess the required repairs,” the City said.

“Further investigation will help determine the cause of the break and inform the repair timeline. The City thanks the public for their patience as crews work to address the situation as quickly and safely as possible.”
