Scheduled for completion in the last quarter of 2026 after a nine-year renovation, the Shanghai Opera House adds a dimension of openness to an artform that is often regarded as elitist and self-enclosed.
This building will be open to the public as a leisure facility 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
That’s a statement.
The design is by the Norwegian firm Snøhetta.
