The cab of a semi-trailer was swaying off the edge of a Winnipeg overpass Tuesday morning after crashing through the guardrail.

It happened on the Perimeter Highway at Fermor Avenue just after 8 a.m. when the truck and trailer began fishtailing on the slippery road, leaving it hanging off the bridge, RCMP said in an email to CBC News.

The cab was held back by the trailer from falling fully over the edge.

Emergency response teams were on scene, and no injuries were reported, Winnipeg police said in a post on Facebook just before 9 a.m.

A crane was brought in to lift the truck back onto the road.

The southbound lanes of the Perimeter at Fermor, in southeast Winnipeg, remained closed to traffic as emergency crews work at the scene, and drivers were advised to find alternative routes, Winnipeg police said in their post.

RCMP initially attended because the crash was near the boundary of their service area. Once things were under control, RCMP left the scene, a spokesperson said.
