SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the third time this season, Pepperdine swept this week’s West Coast Conference women’s tennis player of the week awards with Alexia Harmon winning West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week, Duru Soke and Shihomi Leong claiming Doubles Team of the Week honors and Sonja Zhiyenbayeva winning West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ALEXIA HARMON, SO. – PEPPERDINE
Alexia Harmon earned a pair of singles wins on the week against No. 8 UCLA and No. 6 USC, and her win against USC clinched the team victory for the Waves over a top-10 opponent. This is Harmon’s first conference weekly award and she is the third Wave to win conference player of the week.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – DURU SOKE, SO., SHIHOMI LEONG, FR., PEPPERDINE
The Waves pair earned two doubles victories against No. 8 UCLA and No. 6 USC, clinching the doubles point in each match and the Waves went on to take down the Trojans. This is the third time Pepperdine has won conference doubles pair of the week, and it is this tandem’s first award this season.

Sonja Zhiyenbayeva earned a singles win against No. 6 USC and a doubles victory against No. 8 UCLA last week. Her win over the Trojans helped the Waves win the team match. This is the fourth time Zhiyenbayeva has won conference freshman of the week accolades.
