CHICAGO, Ill. – DePaul women’s tennis came up short against Missouri in a valiant battle, losing 4-1, at XS Tennis Village. Sophomore Eleanor Cochran played her first tennis match of 2026, and now offers crucial depth for the team. 
 
Doubles action marked the start of Cochran’s season, playing alongside Sasha Stula in a 3-6 loss on No. 2 court. Clara Nilsson and Hannah Smith continued their dominant doubles play this season, marking a 6-0 sweep at court No. 1. Their record as doubles partners is now 7-3 on the year. Helin Alvarez and Roberta Sechi narrowly lost their duel, 5-7, giving the Tigers the doubles point.
 
Entering singles action, Mizzou led 1-0 and didn’t relinquish their advantage from that point on. The first two singles courts to conclude both ended in straight sets, with Smith and Pehlivan falling 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively. 
 
After the losses, Sechi bounced back for DePaul, winning her matchup convincingly 6-0, 6-3. Nilsson then narrowly dropped her pairing, 4-6, 6(4)-7. Stula and Alvarez’ matches went unfinished after Missouri clinched the pivotal fourth point at No. 4.
