Winnipeg police say one person was taken to hospital following a serious motor vehicle collision on the Fermor Road/Perimeter Highway overpass bridge.

WPS says officers responded to the overpass just after 8 a.m. on Feb. 24, after receiving a report of a collision.

When they arrived, they learned that a Ford F350 truck with an attached trailer was travelling southbound on the Perimeter Highway when the trailer jack-knifed, resulting in a collision with a Dodge Ram. As a result of this, the F350 crashed into the guardrail on the bridge and dangled off the side of the bridge.

WPS were aided by RCMP, Springfield Fire and Rescue, and the WFPS and were able to successfully and safely get one person out of the Ford F350.

Police say no injuries were reported, but the driver of the F350 was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.

A pair of trucks were also at the scene and dealt with the damaged vehicles, while a bridge inspector from Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure examined the bridge and determined that it was safe to drive on.
