With so many supplements and protein-packed snacks inundating the market, it can be hard to know where to begin. Do you go for a vegan protein powder or whey? Are you more of a protein shake person or a protein bar person? That’s why The Vitamin Shoppe introduced its own Supplement Awards, The Suppies, a brand-new program that recognizes excellence in supplement innovation and industry achievements. Products are selected by experts at The Vitamin Shoppe and in partnership with the editors of Men’s Health and Women’s Health.

How were the winners chosen? “We’re looking for supplements that have the strong support of scientific research,” says Paul Kita, a deputy editor at Men’s Health, emphasizing the importance of third-party certification.

But taste can be just as important as nutritional quality, especially if you’re new to the protein game. Kita suggests starting with Clean Simple Eats Pink Burst Clear Protein. “It’s fruity, just-sweet-enough, and translucent. So it comes off fresh, without that dairy-heavy aftertaste,” he says.

The Suppies span 13 categories, including protein bars, sports nutrition, and wellness essentials. Here’s what took home trophies.
