It’s happening!

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are joining the big-league pre-game party circuit by allowing tailgating this CFL season but only for an elite group.

Season ticket holders will be the only ones eligible, and they’ll have to enter a lottery for one of those golden-ticket tailgate passes.

Winners will get two parking spots – one for the vehicle and the other for the grill, the tent, the cooler and that cousin who hasn’t been to a game for years but magically shows up when there’s a brisket on the smoker.

The rules and regulations have yet to be finalized but you can bring your own booze and food. That is, if you can afford it after paying the $500 fee.

I see a number of fans on social media who aren’t pleased with the way this is rolling out but I’ve found other CFL teams do, in fact, charge for parking spots and tailgating and, south of the border, it’s the same thing. For example, a parking spot around SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is $160.00 for each game!

I’m all in favour of tailgating at Mosaic Stadium. I just hope each party brings a designated driver.
