We all know the feeling of needing a nap after a quick burst of energy. Whether it’s chasing a toddler at the park or wrestling your puppy back into the car after a trip to the groomer, everyday life can be exhausting. Recently, a baby elephant had to run to catch up with her herd, and the exercise proved too much at once—the sweet girl had to drop and take a nap immediately!
Cute little Kaikai is an 8-month-old baby elephant who does everything with maximum effort. Whether she’s lounging around in her bed with her emotional support tire or playing with her herd mates, she does so with all her might. The sweet pachyderm doesn’t do anything halfway.
In a recent Instagram video posted by the keepers at the Sheldrick Trust in Kenya, Kaikai seems to have fallen behind the group, which, given her age, would be like a 2-year-old toddler dragging behind.
Then, Kaikai suddenly got a burst of energy and felt an urgent need to race ahead at top speed to catch up. With her ears flapping and her tail swaying, she created the impression of speed, but honestly, she wasn’t very fast. Still, for an elephant, she was definitely in the quick category.

As she catches up, she quickly moves to the side of the path and finds the perfect spot for an impromptu nap. Her chosen spot happens to be perfect for dirt throwing, so she does a little of that, too! This little girl really packs in a lot during the 30-second video clip!
Instagram Fans Adore This Baby Elephant
With over 1k followers leaving messages, the comments section was filled with heart emojis and smiley faces. One commenter left a heartfelt message saying, “How beautiful to see a baby in their natural habitat, living a safe and carefree life while they grow toward their goals, with humanity, love, knowledge, and compassion.”
Little Kaikai has grown so much since her rescue in July. We can’t wait to see what she’s up to next!
