As the City Centre Arena begins its early development, the City of Surrey is looking to invest some large sums into its creation. A recent budget plan has revealed that Surrey plans to budget over $200 million from 2026-2030 for the arena.
City Centre Arena
The City Centre Arena’s completed timeline sections are currently quite short, having only begun its feasibility study back in 2024. During this time, it was reviewed if the project was a possibility and worth the cost.
By the time 2025 rolled around, the “City retained a development advisor to assist in the procurement of a development partner(s) and an operating partner.” That brings us to 2026 where the City of Surrey has officially issued a Request for Expressions of Interest and Statements of Qualification. This is to (according to the City):
invite submissions from interested parties indicating their interest in and qualifications for the development and/or operation and/or tenanting of the City Centre Arena and Entertainment District; and
identify and select a shortlist of respondents to be available to participate in a subsequent procurement phase for the Project.
2026 is also expected to have the preliminary design completed, with 2027 to have construction begin.

Among other features, the City Centre Arena is slated to have a fixed seating capacity of around 10,000. The arena will host sports, concerts, and community events.
Moreover, it will have a 175-room hotel and conference facilities, and 100,000-sq.ft. of commercial and office space.
