Ottawa police released a statement identifying the victim of a downtown homicide as a 58-year-old man.

According to officials, Gilles Comtois was stabbed to death on Feb. 19. First-degree murder charges were laid against Yves Brisebois, 70, in connection with the case.

Emergency responders were called to Rideau Street and Colonel By Drive at 5:35 p.m.

The man who was stabbed to death is the city’s fourth murder of the year, and third fatal stabbing.
