HENDERSON, Nev. – The Coastal Carolina men’s golf team fired a tournament-best 13-under 275 in Tuesday’s final round to move up two spots and finish tied for third at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, hosted by Louisiana at Reflection Bay Golf Club.
The Chanticleers closed the three-day event at 17-under par (287-280-275—842), tying Northern Illinois for third place in the 11-team field. Boise State claimed the team title at 23-under, followed by Louisiana at 19-under.
Coastal’s 275 on Tuesday marked its lowest team round of the tournament and the second-lowest round of the day among the field, highlighted by three individual scores of 3-under or better.
Junior Jack Lee paced the Chants with a 5-under 67 in the final round to finish tied for sixth overall at 7-under par (70-72-67—209). Lee carded five birdies on the back nine, including three over his final four holes, to post the team’s low round of the day and secure his top-10 finish.
Max Bengtsson added a 4-under 68 on Tuesday to climb into a tie for ninth at 6-under (72-70-68—210). Bengtsson recorded four birdies and an eagle over his final 18 holes, continuing a steady week in which he played his final 36 holes at 8-under.
Drew Sykes also finished tied for ninth at 6-under (71-69-70—210). Sykes shot 2-under 70 in the final round, highlighted by four birdies, as he collected his second consecutive round in the 60s earlier in the tournament.
Harrison James turned in a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish at 2-over (72-72-70—214), while Santiago Schele rounded out the lineup at 15-over (79-73-78—230).
As a team, Coastal posted four counting scores of par or better in the final round.
