Northbound Bridgeview Drive was closed at Highway 17 in Surrey on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 25) after a crash involving a semi-truck.

DriveBC cameras show that sometime after 11 a.m., a semi-truck had driven over a raised cement pedestrian island and knocked out a street light at the intersection of Highway 17 and northbound Bridgeview Drive. Police said that there were no serious injuries.

A Black Press freelancer at the scene noted that there was a “significant fuel and oil spill” that the Surrey Fire hazmat team responded to.

“Traffic is not impacted eastbound and westbound on Highway 17,” noted a Surrey Police release on Wednesday. Although delays can be expected in the area. The freelancer noted that the eastbound left turn lane on Highway 17 was also closed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
