The fundraiser gives golfers a chance to put their skills to the test in the winter to support kids who want to go to summer camp.
OAKLAND, Maine — When you think of golf in Maine, sunshine and summer weather probably come to mind. But a fundraiser taking place in Oakland is looking to get people teeing off in the winter to support a good cause.Â
Maine Golf is partnering with New England Sports Camp for the Inaugural Maine Ice Golf Scramble.
Organizers say the money raised will go toward scholarships for kids to attend golf camp over the summer, taking some of the financial burden off families to let younger Mainers enjoy all the game has to offer.Â
On Saturday, Feb. 28th, golfers will take to the ice on McGrath Pond in Oakland to play a 9-hole course. Tee times start at 9 a.m. with the latest tee time being around 3 p.m.
The format is scramble style with teams of four playing best ball. Prizes will be handed out for the top-scoring teams.Â
There are still slots open for teams to participate. If you’d like to see how your golf skills fare in the winter, you can find registration details here.
