Owners of certain vehicles that have been recalled amid a fire risk are being told to only park outside.
Transport Canada said in a notice that the affected vehicles could have a problem inside of their high-voltage battery.
“As a result, the battery could create smoke or heat, which can melt or damage the battery and nearby parts,” the notice said.
“A battery that overheats can create a fire risk.”

The recall is from Jaguar and involves the 2019, 2020, and 2021 I-PACE models.
There are 448 vehicles that are affected in Canada.
Officials said that recalls were previously issued (Transport Canada nos. 2023-302, 2023-564 and 2024-073), but the repairs completed “may not be effective” and another repair is needed.
“To reduce the safety risk, Jaguar recommends that you charge and park your vehicle outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed,” the notice said.
“As an interim repair, a dealer will update the vehicle software to limit the maximum charge setting at 90 per cent until the recall repairs are available. Once the final repair is available, Jaguar will notify you by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.”
