A new era is on the horizon for one of Calgary’s most iconic bars.
After opening more than 50 years ago, Ranchman’s has revealed it is set to close its current location at the end of 2026. However, the Calgary staple will be reopening in a nearby location in 2027.
The move forms part of a planned redevelopment of the property, Ranchman’s and the Deveraux Group of Companies, who are leading the development, said in a press release. They added that Ranchman’s has already signed a lease for a larger location.
Having first opened in 1972, Ranchman’s has become one of Calgary’s most prominent bars, offering free country dance lessons, live music and even a free limo service to get you to the spot in style.
Last year, the spot even received a shoutout from the stars of the Netflix series, My Life With the Walter Boys.
“I want to give a big shoutout to Ranchman’s,” Ashby Gentry said while visiting the Calgary Stampede.
“Love it or hate it, it wouldn’t be Calgary without it,” he added.
For now, it’ll be business as usual at Ranchman’s with live music, events, dance lessons, and more still taking place throughout the year. 2026 will also be the final Stampede celebration held at the current location.
“We intend to send it off properly, with our stage active and our dance floor full,” said Wendy Daniel, director of marketing for Ranchman’s.
“We’re excited about where Ranchman’s is going next and look forward to sharing more in the months ahead,” she added.
While it’ll be sad to say goodbye to the old Ranchman’s, we’re excited to see what its new home has in store.
