A pedestrian has died following a crash in Mississauga on Thursday night.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the Lakeshore Road East and Stavebank Road area of Port Credit at 7:10 p.m., a Peel Regional Police spokesperson told INsauga.com.

A blue Chevy Trax was travelling westbound on Lakeshore Road when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing mid-block from north to south, police said.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was transported to hospital where he later died of his injuries, the spokesperson said.

Police said the driver, an adult male, remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.

The Major Collision Bureau is investigating.

No charges have been laid.
