A man in his 70s has died after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga on Thursday night, said Peel police.

Officers responded around 7:10 p.m. near Lakeshore Road and Stavebank Road on Thursday after a blue Chevy Trax struck a pedestrian “crossing midblock,” said Cst. Tyler Bell-Morena in an emailed statement Friday.

At the scene, they found the pedestrian in life-threatening condition and he was taken to hospital by Peel paramedics.

The man later died of his injuries in hospital, said Bell- Morena.

An adult male driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, he said, adding the major collision bureau is investigating the incident.
