HAMMOND — Former Southeastern Louisiana University defensive end Warren Peeples will continue his professional career as a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Peeples signed with the Blue Bombers last month after spending the 2025 season as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. He will be the second active former Lion in the CFL, as former SLU defensive end Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund is a six-year CFL veteran and currently a member of the Montreal Alouettes.
In his lone season in Hammond during 2024, Peeples was a first-team All-Southland Conference selection. The Stone Mountain, Georgia, native led the Lions with 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks to go with 33 tackles, eight quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.
Peeples and the Blue Bombers will open the 2026 preseason on May 23 versus the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, with the season officially opening June 5 versus the Calgary Stampeders.
Peeples’ former teammates returned to the practice field Friday morning for the second workout of spring practice. Southeastern will open the 2026 season Aug. 27, hosting HCU in Strawberry Stadium.
