It was a big point night for your Kitchener Rangers, as a massive second period outing helped propel them to a whopping 8-2 win over the Brampton Steelheads.

Brampton jumped out to an early lead in the first period when Justin Bottineau potted the game’s first goal at 5:39 to give the Steelheads an early 1-0 lead.

That lead did not last long as the Rangers came out firing in the second period with six unanswered goals, including from Dylan Edwards, Luca Romano, Christian Humphreys, Tanner Lam and Jared Wooley.

Kitchener added two more in the third period from Haeden Ellis and Andrew Vermeulen, while Brampton got one more on the power play.

Dylan Edwards lead the way for his team, receiving first star honours for his three-point performance with two goals and one assist. Captain Cameron Reid got the second star with his three assists, and Haeden Ellis got the third star for his two-point performance; one goal and one assist.

The Rangers will finish off the weekend at home with a matchup with their division rivals the London Knights on Sunday. Heading into that game, Kitchener site pretty at the top of the Western Conference and second overall in the OHL standings with a record of 41-12-4-2 and 88 points.
