Cochrane RCMP say a 15-year-old Calgary resident has died after an avalanche Friday at Nakiska ski hill.

Police said officers received a report at 12:49 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2026, of an avalanche at the ski area that buried two skiers.

RCMP said one skier was able to escape the snow, but the second was not initially located.

Multiple resources were deployed to the scene, police said. The second skier was later found unresponsive.

He was taken by EMS to a Calgary hospital, where he died early Saturday morning.

RCMP extended condolences to the teen’s family and friends.

No further details were released.
