Mills, 21-1 (8 KOs), made the first statement of the fight in Round 1, landing a pair of jolting rights to the chin over lazy jabs from Green and a few damaging left hooks to the body. The pressure didn’t let up in the second, as Mills began to work in left uppercuts. Green responded by targeting the midsection with both hands to try and slow Mills down. He slowly began sneaking his way into the fight by the third round, landing sharp uppercuts as Mills rested his head in the middle a little too long.
