There have been a lot of trade rumors swirling as the NHL’s March 6 trade deadline approaches.
Has there been a single one about Adam Henrique? He certainly hasn’t featured prominently.
That’s what made Saturday’s news so amusing.
This is what TSN’s Darren Dreger posted on X:
“Adam Henrique doesn’t want to go anywhere and hasn’t told the Oilers he’s willing to waive trade protection. Team and agent confirm.”

OK then. Apparently Henrique doesn’t want to leave Edmonton.
If there were rumors that he did, they were quite under the radar. Henrique hasn’t seemed to be involved in any serious chatter.
Really, at this point, that makes sense.
Henrique is 36 years old. In 45 games this season, he has just two goals and eight assists.

This is Henrique’s second full season, and third portion of a season, with the Oilers.
He began his career with nearly eight seasons with the New Jersey Devils, then spent another with the Anaheim Ducks.
Henrique used to be a decent scorer, but it has fallen off. A year ago, it was 27 points in 81 games.
In his NHL career as a whole, Henrique has played 1,038 games and tallied 277 goals and 290 assists (567 points).
And apparently, he wants to keep playing for the Oilers and not anywhere else, just like everyone was wondering.
