The disappearance of a Mississauga woman nearly four years ago is now being investigated by police as a homicide.
Mezhgan Aini, 38, who also went by the names “Sara” or “Sarah,” was last seen in June 2022, Peel Regional Police said in a news release on Monday morning.
The missing woman lived in the Queen Frederica Drive/Dundas Street East area of Mississauga. She was reported missing to Peel police in June 2025 by family members in Afghanistan “who had been unable to reach her for an extended period,” investigators said in the news release.
Detectives with the Peel police homicide and missing persons squad are appealing to the public as their investigation continues.
Aini is described as standing 5-foot-2, with a medium build and long, straight black hair.
Investigators are asking anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area of her home (Queen Frederica Drive/Dundas Street East) between June 2022 and September 2022, and who has not yet spoken with police, or those who have information about Aini or her family, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205, or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
Police initially issued a news release last July seeking the public’s help in locating the missing woman after having heard from her family in Afghanistan.
