Montreal police (SPVM) are seeking public’s help in finding other potential victims of a former hospital worker who is facing a charge of sexual assault.
SPVM said 49-year-old Abdelaali Laaziz, former employee at Maisonneuve-Rosement Hospital was arrested on Feb. 1 in connection with alleged acts of sexual assault in December 2025 while he was on-duty.
Through an investigation, police believe that there could be other victims of Laaziz, who came into contact with many vulnerable patients at the hospital as part of his job as a patient attendant.
“The information gathered suggests that he took advantage of his position to perform sexual acts on certain patients,” SPVM said in a press release.
“He also allegedly offered unnecessary care or care that was not part of the treatment plan, using these pretexts to commit other acts of a sexual nature.”
SPVM said Laaziz is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 156 kg, with brown hair and eyes. He mainly speaks French.
