Hamilton police say a tip from the public led them to a man accused of committing multiple break-and-enters on the city’s east mountain.

In a release, police said a member of the public contacted investigators on Feb. 27 that “led officers to locate and arrest (a) suspect without incident.”

As a result, Jose De Guzman, 46, of Brampton, with two counts each of break and enter to commit theft and failing to comply with probation.

Investigators add that, at the time of his arrest, De Guzman was not known to the Hamilton Police Service.

Officers also recovered allegedly stolen property and released pictures of them in hopes of “identifying and returning them to their rightful owners.”

Anyone who recognizes the property or believes it may belong to them is asked to contact investigators.
