It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers desperately need to make significant changes to the wide receiver room, and many people around the league understand this.

NBC Sports NFL analyst Matthew Berry was at the NFL scouting combine last week and picked up on a lot of buzz surrounding the Steelers, who seemed to be spending considerable time talking to wide receivers.

“I’m told Pittsburgh spent a lot of time talking to wide receivers at the Combine, and I’d expect that to be a big focus for them this offseason,” Berry wrote on Monday.

The Steelers made a major trade last offseason, acquiring wide receiver DK Metcalf, but they also dealt wideout George Pickens, leaving a gap at the No. 2 receiver spot.

It seems clear that Pittsburgh is working hard to upgrade the No. 2 receiver role, and it could achieve this by making another trade, signing a player, or even drafting one with the 21st pick in the NFL Draft.

Whoever is playing quarterback for the Steelers next season is going to need more support than what Aaron Rodgers received last season, and some of the receiver room may need a complete overhaul.
